Benedict XVI to Canonize 10 in April, October
VATICAN CITY, FEB. 23, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI will proclaim 10 new saints in two ceremonies, planned for April 26 and Oct. 11.
The Pope affirmed this Saturday in the Vatican Apostolic Palace at an ordinary public consistory for the causes of canonization.
The consistory gathered 39 cardinals with the Pope, including Cardinal Angelo Sodano, dean of the College of Cardinals and Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, secretary of state.
On April 26, the following blesseds will be canonized: Arcangelo Tadini, Bernardo Tolomei, Nuno de Santa Maria Álvares Pereira, Gertrude Caterina Comensoli and Caterina Volpicelli.
The blesseds who will be canonized on Oct. 11 are: Zygmunt Szcesny Felinski, Francisco Coll y Guitart, Jozef Damien de Veuster, Rafael Arnáiz Barón and Marie de la Croix (born Jeanne) Jugan.
