SMALL SUCCESS THURSDAY:

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that.

1.MADE 5 BATCHES OF this BANANA BREAD.

mine looked like this:

15 c. all-purpose flour
7 1/2 tsp. salt
20 large bananas (the riper the bananas, the better the flavor)
20 eggs
7 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 3/4 c. Butter flavored Crisco (don't use real butter)
7 1/2 c. sugar
7 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two loaf pans (I used larger loaf pans because that's what I have).

Cream Crisco and sugar together with an electric mixer. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

Mash bananas, then add baking soda to bananas and stir to combine. Add this mixture to the Crisco mixture and mix to combine. Add vanilla and mix to combine.

Sift flour with salt, then mix nuts into the flour. Add this to the banana mixture, again mixing to combine all. Pour an equal amount of batter into each prepared pan and then bake for 60 to 70 minutes. To test by inserting a knife close to the center of the bread. It should come out clean.

2. Got two feet off the top of the van that has been sitting in the driveway...finally.

3.I am making creative snacks with pantry stuff during Lent.

4. I have 10 of my 40 bags out of the house, my kids are getting worried that their next!

Small Success Thursday...

I am really pushing the success thing this week...

1. Started school on Tues., went really well.

2. Cleaned half of the refrigerator out
3. Got to 6:30am daily mass this week

4. Found and am wearing my green scapular*

* Dominic Savio (one of our favorites)

His mother's pregnancy:
On September 12, 1856, Dominic asked John Bosco permission to go home, saying that his mother was ill, though he had received no communication. Dominic's mother was then expecting a baby and was in great pain, and when Dominic reached the house, he hugged and kissed his mother, and then left. His mother felt her pain leave her and Dominic's baby sister, Catherine was born. The women assisting at the birth found that Dominic had left a green scapular around his mother's neck. His sister Theresa later wore this same scapular when she was in labour. She testified that it had been passed around to several other pregnant women and was later lost.

So maybe Sept 12th will be the day???

Small Successes Thursday...

It is Thursday and I can finally say I had a small success!!!

It is amazing what I can do for Lent that I can't do at any other time.

My small success is I have been doing great at my Lenten sacrifices!!! I know, it is just one day...but this is small successes---right!!! I am trying to only go on line before 7am and after 7pm, so to spend more time with my kids and my homemaking skills!!! It was amazing how much I got accomplished!!! I cleaned, played cards with my five year old, went for a walk, got dinner ready, and did laundry...I also learned a good lesson from a friend who said, "I am not that important" when she decided not to answer the phone during a busy family time. It really made me think...I constantly think, "I need to check email, just in case...something or someone needs my attention!!! Then I thought, "I am working on Humility this year." So I really am not that important, and there is nothing so important about me that I must check my email!!!
Go see more successes from Faith and Family!!!

It is going to be a great Lent!!!
