I had fun doing your Wizard of Oz party!

You never made fun of my silly ideas!
Like your Rainbow Cake

Or the Scavenger Hunt
How about the Hit the Witch with a water balloon game?
Or Following the Yellow Brick Road?
Or my red hightops?

Mom's coaching soccer to a bunch of boys???

I have been so excited about paying off our house that I forgot to mention that I am coaching a boys middle school CYO soccer team.

I just found out that we are in first place and I am so excited. The other coach is an amazing momma of five wonderful kids and happened to coach a girls college basketball team. She has taught me so much about coaching and raising the bar for the kids. We make a great team, me with my 7 month old foster baby in a stroller and her with her daughter in a pink sling strapped on tight.

My oldest son holding his little sister after he just dumped her water bottle on her after her first game ever!!!

I laughed when I just read this.

I let you know how we continue to do...hopefully we will make it to the playoffs...I am getting very competitive!!!

WE PAID OFF OUR HOUSE!!!

What can I possibly say besides, "My husband rocks!"
This is us at the bank and my hubby signing our final payment on the house!
At the beginning of the year  my husband informed me that he was almost done paying off our home mortgage!  I was in shock at the possibility and just hugged him and told him how proud I was of him! He informed me that it was "us" and all the years of scraping the bottom of the barrel (he says we didn't even have a barrel!) and making small sacrifices!

In the early years friends used to introduce us as the couple who had everything, except money! God provided everything for us, cars, clothes, shoes, furniture...we never bought anything but food...or as my kids say, "we lived off of hamburger helper, hotdogs, mac & cheese, and oodles of noodles!" Thanks to our generous friends we ate out at least once a week for a real meal and Friday night dinners with my in laws.

When we got married we bought a nice townhouse and moved after five years when I was pregnant with our fourth child. We owned a small Christian Bookstore where we made practically nothing and got paid about twice a year, after Christmas and First Communion season. We moved back to our hometown and bought a nice cape cod, lived there for six years and had three more children. After our seventh child was born we found our dream house across town which was a foreclosure in the best neighborhood!

We sadly closed the bookstore and my husband got a new job, we started to appreciate things like sick leave, insurance, and vacations. After about seven years he got an even better job but we continued to live simply. During this time we had our other five children. Things like homeschooling our kids saved us a ton of money, making our kids pay for their own phones, their own car insurance, and college is a biggy too! Not to mention things like my coffee loving husband only going to places like Starbucks five times in his entire life! We splurge now on things like paper towels, dryer sheets, ice cream, real butter, real tomato catchup, and a monthly date out!

My husband making his growling face in front of the bank with letter in hand!

My hubby would put all the extra funds (I of course didn't know that they existed) on our house. Simple things like using cloth diapers and not stopping for convenience food made a huge difference. The kids and I would always say as we drove past all the fast food places in town, "It is a good thing we aren't rich, cuz we would stop there right now, then we would be fat and unhealthy!"

We are pinching ourselves and can't believe we paid off our 30 year mortgage in 12 years 3 months! WE didn't know what to do...have a mortgage burning party? Only our older family and friends remember things like that! So we just went out to dinner with our wonderful accountant and his wife!

Who said it can't be done...one income family with 12 kids!
(One married, 3 in college, 2 in high school, 2 in middle school, 3 in elementary, and one in preschool)

Now our goal is to pay off our van and we will be completely dept free!!! Thanks be to God!!! We will continue to live the good life and put money away for our 25th wedding anniversary and retirement!Watch out Rome...

17 day diet-Day 16:

Day 16 weigh in...148.8 lbs
Day 1 weigh in...158.2 lbs
almost 10 lbs exactly

Today I just wasn't that hungry...
Breakfast: chobani peach yogurt at a soccer game
Late Lunch: salad with chicken
snack: celery
dinner: a little of Fat flush soup which I changed around a bit
drank my tea...4 of my 8 waters

Ran two miles.

Tomorrow is day 17! I am  not sure what I am gonna do on day 18...may take a break or go to phase 2.

Mentally I need a break. My heart is not in this right now...I still am way farther away from the healing I need from the loss of my baby Steven Thomas. I was hoping this would give me something to keep my mind off my sadness. I know that when I exercise and eat healthy it is good for me, but my heart craves for my pregnant belly and my baby moving around again!

It is two months today since my water broke. My husband and I are having a tough time finding the words to express our loss. WE ARE TOTALLY grateful for our 12 amazing children and we are so blessed to have the miracle of our foster baby who keeps us all smiling...but, we still have a wound that needs to heal. We just got back from holy hour where we just kinda sat and held each other and cried asking God to help us.

We know He is in control and we are so grateful for our faith...wow, what do people do during suffering without the consolation of Christ?

Off to bed dreaming of my wonderful family!!!
This picture makes me laugh...I need a good laugh right now...gonna get our foster baby a Thing 13 for Christmas if we still have him! Please Lord, let us adopt him!

My baby boy:

What a great day you had...If all little children could only be loved so much! All I heard all afternoon from your big brothers and sisters was we never had this many gifts...well, that's because they bought them for you! What an honor to have all 11 of your siblings, your foster baby, plus some friends, Geama, and Aunt Betsy here too!

Look at all my babies!!! What a smiling time!!!

Even though you had to go to one of the three soccer games today...you were great...this is a funny picture of us all cheering on my almost 9 year old daughter in her very first soccer game!!! Once again, I had to hear from the big kids about how we hardly ever went to "their" games...Guilt!!!  I said..."Well, we have lots of drivers now!"...even though I had my 15 passenger van...it took 6 cars to get all these people here from all their activities...but we made it and she played great..."Go Mary, Go Mary...the other team is hairy...they are really, really scary! Go Mary!

Your baptism with your God parents...and big sister and brother

We love you so much...you are such a blessing...stay close to Jesus all the days of your life!!!

17 day diet: day 11:

Day 11:

 Weigh in:
151lbs: TOTAL bummer-I gained 1 1/2 lbs or so---not sure how much cuz yesterday my sardonic husband thought it would be funny to change the scale to metric ...then he laughed this morning when I gained and said to the kids..."hey guys the weight gain powder we put in mom's food is working!" Yes, I hit him! All I have to say is muscle weighs more!

Breakfast:
Greek yogurt & peaches

snack: red grapes

Lunch:
Yummy taco salad boats...If you didn't notice yet...I make a huge batch of turkey taco meat at the beginning of the week and put it in everything!

Dinner:
The last of my taco meat...some chicken and steamed broccoli.
Workout:
I had a really lame workout...only 45 minutes today...so I could get to the grocery store.

On Tues/Thurs I use an ARC Trainer. Some days I go super easy. I did the arc for 45min on resistance of 30... plus I use 2lb hand weights in each hand doing arm lifts/boxing punches, and just pumping my arms with them. Not sure how I would do without my ipod. I have an hour worth of Christian pop music that really helps me get moving. Then home to shower and wait for the babies to wake up!

Hopefully I will have a better workout tomorrow.
I don't like going to the gym but at least I usually feel good afterwards.

17 day diet: day 8

Day 8:
Yippee! Day 8: 149.8!
Started on Sept 1st at 158.2 making it 8.2 lbs just by cutting out junk, eating healthy, and exercise...NO DIET SUPPLEMENTS or gimmicks!!!

So I had:
breakfast: peach chobani yogurt
lunch: chicken breast blueberry chobani yogurt
dinner: salad and 2 turkey burgers

Ran: 2.02 miles (my marathon husband said I just ran 2...but I want credit for the .02!)

Had my hot lemon water and 4 green teas and about half my water.

My husband orders me a big box of 6 boxes of green tea from amazon the reason I like it so much is four tea bags come in a small sealed bag. So I take out one a day and know if I drank my four teas!

17 day diet: day 6-

Weigh in:
151.4 (started at 158.2 SIX DAYS AGO)

Workout:
First of all...I got to the gym around 5am...there was someone on my ARC machine!!! What's up with that...hey guy...it is 5 am...go home and go to bed...this is my machine that I have been working out on for almost a year...so of course I was so put out...and had to choose from one of the other 30 ARC machines!!! So, I couldn't get this one to show me how fast I was going and I ended up doing much slower the first mile! I did one hour =2.31 miles and 586 calories, plus I was using my 3 lb hand weights. It was a slow and hard workout...the good news is since I was on a new machine, I looked at it differently and realized there was a fan on it...go figure, I have been sweating my head off all this time and never saw a fan...so next time I will definitely use the fan...it helped a lot. I wasn't totally dripping like usual!

Breakfast:
Fage yogurt mixed with chobani blueberry
Bowl of strawberries and red grapes

Lunch:
taco salad

Dinner:
Left over Chicken breast
Fish
(I made great broccoli but last minute I put butter on it for the family...I was so bummed!)

snack:
yogurt & carrots

Drinks:
Hot lemon water this morning
6 of my 8 oz of water
2 of my 4 green teas
working on this!

Overall I had a bad day...with school starting this week-my house has been trashed and the kids driving me crazy...Thank God I have a loving husband who believes in home schooling or I would be in big trouble.    Hoping for a better day tomorrow!

THY WILL BE DONE!!! +JMJ+

Kindergarten in our house:

My five year old had a long day...
he just flat out laid on the dirty kitchen floor
and passed out snoring for about 1/2 hour!
Poor guy...I guess he has a mean teacher!
THANK GOD FOR HOMESCHOOLING!

17 Day diet: day 5:

Day five and feeling good...
(just between you and me...I would way rather be pregnant than lose weight)

Weigh in: 152.8 (started at 158.2 FIVE DAYS AGO)

Breakfast:
Fage yogurt with strawberries
2 oranges

Lunch:
2 turkey burgers
carrots

Dinner:
Chicken breast
Celery

snack:
yogurt

***interesting fact:
Chobani blueberry vs Aldi's blueberry greek yogurt

Chobani: $1.00 (usually 10 for $10)
6oz =140 cal/ sugars 20g/protein 14g/sodium 65mg
ingredients don't mention the word sugar

Aldi's friendly farms yogurt:  89 cents each
6oz =140 cal/ sugars 18g/protein 14g/sodium 50mg
ingredients do mention the word sugar third

So I don't know what to tell ya...I go for the better deal as usual! I think they both taste great! I am now mixing them with plain when I want a special treat!

Workout:
tried my treadmill HITT workout...I lowered the speed and made it to second set...then I stopped. It looked a little like this:

M/W/F:
Gym 5-5:50am
Do HIIT run-looks like this:
warm up on 4 for 2 min
go to 5.5 for one min
go to 6. for one min
go to 6.5 for one min
go to 7.5 for one min
go to 8.0 for one min
then back to 5.5 and do it again

I do this the circuit three times (today I made it to 7.5 on the second set)

Then I go to do weight training:
(do each 15 times for 3 rotations)
1. Chest Fly (on back with 10lb weight in each hand-bring up to each other)
2. Back Row (on each side with 10 lb weight, knuckle on bench, knee on bench, back straight, pull up weight like pulling a lawn mower cord up)
3. Shoulder Raise (5 lb weight in each hand, stand up strait, lift up arms at the same time
4. Bicep Curls (hold a 10 lb weight in each hand one at a time curl up arm-15 sets, so 30 times)

Started day with hot lemon water...
Had 2 green teas and 6 of my 8oz's of water...so off to have more water and tea!

17 day diet: day 4:

Day 4:
Weigh in: 153.6
Gym from 5-6am did one hour on the arc machine.

On Tues/Thurs I use an ARC Trainer. Some days I go super easy. I did the arc for one hour on resistance of 30, it ended up 2.33 miles and I burned  592 calories... plus I use 2lb hand weights in each hand doing arm lifts/boxing punches, and just pumping my arms with them. Not sure how I would do without my ipod. I have an hour worth of Christian pop music that really helps me get moving. Then home to shower and wait for the babies to wake up!
Breakfast: 3 eggs whites and 1 yellow omlete with taco meat. I just cook up a bunch of turkey meat during the week and use it in different ways...tacos, taco salad, to munch on, with all meals, and to add to stuff like stuffed mushroom caps...I don't need alot of variety cuz I am happy with my simple meals over and over...but there are alot of great 17day diet recipes.

For lunch I had flounder,carrots, and cucumbers...This is dinner: I had chicken and mushrooms and carrots...for a snack I had FAGE yogurt.

Drank my lemon water
4 green teas
8 eight oz of water

See you tomorrow!

go to 7. for one min
go to 7.5 for one min

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I tried to do my HIIT training and almost fell off the treadmill...the first set I only got to 8. The second set 7.5...and I couldn't do the third set.
For weight training I did the above but with 5 and 10lbs weights.
See you tomorrow!
17 Day Diet: Day 2:
Ok...day 2 down...this time I am not as hungry as I was the first time I did this. The first time I ate all day...just the foods "I could!"
So here today's in review:
17 Day Diet: Day one-
Day One:
I have to start by saying it has been one month today since I delivered Steven. It feels like a week...I am doing a little better each day and happy that I actually have smiled lately.
I weighed in at 158.2
Ran 2.67 in 33min
What I Ate:
Breakfast:
FAGE yogurt with one pack of stevia
strawberries
peach
Lunch:
2 turkey burgers with sugar free pickles with mustard
cherry tomatoes (2 1/2 calories each!)
Dinner:
Big Salad with vinaigrette dressing
lots of carrots and cumbers
(usually I would have chicken or fish-but I was at a party for my newly baptized Godson!!!)
Drank:
started the day off with my hot lemon water
8 8oz water
2 green teas (trying to finish the third before bed)
Here are some before and after shots my husband took...kinda scary but good motivation!!!
I was embarrassed to post these...but I wish I took before pictures March 2011 before I lost 35 pounds.
I will be back tomorrow!
